The Public Sector Undertakings of Indian Government, number more than 200 commercially functioning companies. The Public Sector Undertaking companies are better known by their shorter initial form of PSU. These undertakings are divided into two parts – state and central.

Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs) are government undertaking companies. These provide secure future and good money as these are less affected by the current recession. This sector provides a career for both technical and non-technical personnel.

The students from technical background can apply in technical service providing companies, i.e. BSNL, MTNL, SAIL, NHAI, NTPC, BHEL, ONGC, HPCL, IOCL, BPCL and many more. There are 252 PSUs in India. These PSUs recruit thousands of diploma and degree holding personnel in technical field. All these companies have their own recruiting procedures.

Some of these companies have competitive type examinations and others have technical written and interview rounds. The intimation for the examination is generally notified beforehand repeatedly in their websites and in all the leading daily newspapers.

Major PSUs:

State-owned enterprises are called Public Sector Undertakings (PSU) or Public Sector Enterprises. These companies are owned by the union government of India, or one of the many state or territorial governments, or both. The company stock needs to be majority-owned by the government to be a Public Sector Undertaking. PSUs may be classified as Central Public Sector Enterprises (CPSEs), public sector banks (PSBs) or State Level Public Enterprises (SLPEs).

1.            How to prepare for PSU

PSUs Entrance Exam Question Paper mainly consists of two major sections: Technical Section and Non-Technical Section: your area of specialization. Non-Technical Section includes General Awareness, Current Affairs, English Language, reasoning & Aptitude.

Referring to previous year question papers is of utter importance. Prefer Reference books and class notes for the practice of concepts.

a)       Written test- The written test consists of two papers- Technical and Aptitude. The questions of the Technical test depend on the discipline chosen among the given disciplines. Like given disciplines are Electrical, Chemical, Mechanical, Civil, Control and Instrumentation and HR & Finance.
